Wow what a year!

Blogging is obviously not a strong point of ours since our last update was in December!

Last year our highest donated food distribution was 18,000 pounds in December. This year through August we are averaging 14,203 pounds with a high of 21,808 pounds in August!

We are adding a 10 x 10 walk in refrigerated cooler to help reduce waste by allowing us storage for fresh produce. There are days when we can use an extra day to get the produce distributed because of quantity. For example, when we get 25 cases or 96 packages of strawberries it is a challenge for the organizations to take everything in one day.

We are continually amazed at how doors are opening for us to provide help and provision to feed families in need. The need for food continues to grow and we are trying to supplement our monthly box distribution to weekly on an as needed basis. The High Desert Pregnancy Center is an example of this approach. The FIND foodbank just approached us regarding adding the Yucca Valley Stater Brothers to our weekly pick-up schedule. This comes just as our requests increase.

Of course, without our volunteers and those that financially support us we would never be able to continue this ministry. We are thankful every day for each of them.
